Massage Not Always Appropriate

This Houston article brings up a good point:

"Oftentimes the pains that we have are not just simple muscle aches, and can be deep-rooted. It could be a nerve problem, a bone problem, arthritis -- and that needs to get more care than just a massage," said Orthopedic Sports Specialist Robert Gotlin.

However, what sent this woman to her doctor were flu-like symptoms after a massage. Sometimes that indicates the body clearing toxins. However, if that feeling persists or worsens, go to a doctor.

Dr. Gotlin says the symptoms that a massage is doing more harm than good include feeling nauseated or lightheaded right after a massage.
