Skin Deep

Every once in a while, a client comes in who has something unusual going on with his skin. In school they train us to recognize certain pathologies of the skin. I have a box on my intake form asking clients to alert me about skin conditions. One of the services I provide is to check peoples' backs for suspicious patches of skin that may be an indication of skin cancer or other conditions that need medical attention. Some conditions, such as psoriasis and acne, are not threatening, but may be uncomfortable to have worked on. Of course, some conditions are contagious, such as athlete's foot and should be avoided.
