Yoga Benefits Mind And Body

I've been doing yoga on and off for over 20 years. This Pittsburgh article explains some of the history, describes different types of yoga, and the physical and mental benefits of yoga.

Not only does yoga help relieve stress, but it also can help prevent it, according to Smith. "A lot of it is, if you look since the mid-1990s, there has been an emphasis on prevention," she said. "Things like yoga, massage and other stress management techniques in general all come under prevention. There have been a lot of studies on the impact stress has on a body."

She advised people interested in yoga to "shop around" for a program that will relay the results one might be searching for.
