A Gift Of Thanks

A Louisiana massage therapist thanked the emergency room staff who saved her son's life by giving them massage.

How could she show her appreciation to the doctors, the nurses, the technologists and everyone else who had a role in reviving Michael Tubre, then 19, after he came close to drowning?

''I had a lot of massage therapists that joined me. Thank goodness,'' Tubre said. ''I couldn't have done it by myself. We were there from 8 to 3, and we had a whole lot of people waiting.''

''It raised the morale instantly,'' he said. ''Everybody was so appreciative and kind of dumbfounded that anyone would want to come back and do this.''

In addition to providing massages, Tubre and her colleagues brought along snacks and a proclamation from Mayor Ray Nagin praising the staff.
