No NonSENSE Animal Treatment

Gainesville, FL horseowner uses innovative method to treat horses who career ending disorders.

The treatment that was used on Tommy, called the SENSE method, is based on the Feldenkrais Method, which involves "sensory motor learning" to ease aches and pains and enhance skills using gentle touch and massage techniques.

SENSE is not a massage per se, she said, but rather a specific touch that stimulates the nervous system and communicates with the neurological patterns that run through horses bodies, helping them to release tension and become more effective and balanced.

"It's like any other relationship, if you're interested in getting along with your horse," she said. "With mutual understanding and compassion, you then have a supple, happy, relaxed horse that's happy to have you on his back."
