My Visceral Manipulation Teacher
I just found an article about the lady who taught me visceral manipulation!
She's tiny but she's powerful, and there's wisdom in her hands.
Today Ahern, who is 5 feet tall, travels all over the world to teach others the techniques developed by osteopathic physicians Dr. John Upledger and Dr. Jean Pierre Barral.
Doctors, occupational therapists, acupuncturists, anyone licensed in touch therapy, can perform the techniques that have helped people with chronic pain, sleep disorders and stress, Ahern said.
In 1994 Ahern was trained to teach visceral manipulation, an arm of the Upledger Institute therapies, that links organs to dysfunctions of the muscles, bones, membranes and tissues, and she uses all three therapies in her practice: craniosacral, visceral and lymphatic massage.
