Attention Race Fans
If your animal is a horse, then you may be interested in the spa-like treatment these athletes get.
Maintaining a barnful of good racehorses is not a job for the weak. In a world dominated by mud, sweat and flies, Schoenthal and his crew start the day before the sun does, seven days a week, and sometimes they put in 17-hour days.
One by one, the horses were led out of their stalls and walked to the track for their morning runs, after which they would head for the wash rack to be hosed down and scrubbed with shampoo.
"They get all the treatment professional athletes do," Schoenthal said, adding that the horses receive massage therapy and acupuncture, too.
And if you have plans for attending the races at Saratoga Springs, then this list of weird happenings at the races is a must read.
Horses are the major reason to make this trek. But if you desire a break from the action, there are plenty of options. Visit one of the spas for a mineral bath and a massage.
