Pulling Your Leg

I've been trying something new with my clients this past week. Actually, it's an old craniosacral trick I learned years ago.

I generally start my massages having my clients lying prone. Half way through the massage I have them turn over. This week, when I got them face-up, I induced still point at the feet to clear away transient tensions in the lower body. With relaxation already started, the body is much clearer to "read." I then applied gentle traction at the feet, feeling for tensions in the abdomen or thorax. I then moved to the area of tension and applied a diaphragm release.

With this technique I helped clear a migraine headache, eased one person's chronic shoulder pain, and found primary tension relating to an old automobile accident. It's amazing the relief you can give by pulling someone's leg!
