Off Days
What do massage therapists do on a day when their book isn't full? First, if you're new to owning your own business, don't let it get you down. If you're worried about your income, don't let one off day or week worry you. Things tend to even out if you check the bottom line at the end of the month.
Second, look at the day as a gift. Usually when I have empty day, it falls at a time when I really need the break. So, rest up or use the time to do an extra workout. Go get a massage. Self-maintenance is just as important as the work that you do.
Finally, it's important when you're self-employed to be disciplined and run your day like any other job. You never know when that phone will ring. Just because you have a little extra free time doesn't mean you should blow off your day and head to the beach or go clothes shopping. Unexpected gaps in your schedule are prime opportunities to get your other business obligations taken care of. Shop for supplies, restock oils, cleaning solutions and paper products, update paperwork and client files, or pull out all the furniture and vacuum thoroughly.
Utilize your free time wisely and you'll find your efforts rewarded with time to fully focus on your clients when business is plentiful.
