Accidents Will Happen
I decided to change professions from graphic design following an automobile accident several years ago. The therapy I received following my accident made me feel that there was a career that was more important to mankind than a career which only served to fill our landfills and destroy our environment. I wanted to do something more gratifying with my life in service to people. The following story profiles an Alabama massage therapist who found her calling after a farming accident. She has volunteered her time at the Olympics massaging elite athletes, and at ground zero giving relief to the rescue efforts after 9/11.
"I feel an obligation to give back," Zimmerman said.
Her community outreach, which includes voluntary massages to wheelchair athletes at Lakeshore Foundation, was a major reason she was among six women entrepreneurs honored Thursday by the Central Alabama Women's Business Center, which was hosting its second Women's Business Conference & Expo.
Zimmerman said her greatest joy is helping ease the stress her clients feel.
