Depression May Be Linked To Heart Disease

A recent study from the Women's Health Initiative found that there may be link between heart disease and depression in post-menopausal women.

No one is saying that Duke's heart disease was caused by her depression, but the February study showed that women with depressive symptoms had a 50 percent greater risk of developing or dying from heart disease than counterparts who were not depressed.

"Women don't do as well when intervened on (with surgical techniques,) but women who do preventive measures, do better than men," he says.

Among the suggestions: music therapy, hypnosis, aromatherapy, massage, yoga, acupuncture, and even therapeutic touch, homeopathy, and religion.
