Even Accountants Need A Tax Break

After three months of grueling 12-hour work days and few work-free weekends, accountants are celebrating the post-tax season. Whether it's a day off to loll in bed, a two week scuba vacation at destinations far removed from telephones and tax returns, or a massage complete with facial, manicure and pedicure, planning something to look forward is all some have to keep them going through the busy season.

"You can go home and reintroduce yourself to your family and see if they remember you."

The view beyond the finish line for Lakeland accountant Ken Ferguson includes images of largemouth bass. Ferguson traditionally heads for a fishing hole after tax season -- earlier in his career with male buddies and more recently with his three daughters.

"The day after, I do my chores," says Ferguson, an accountant for 15 years. "I've got to fix a leaky faucet and mow the grass and do all the stuff that hasn't been done for two months."
