Auto Accident Case--Part 3

This is a follow-up on the automobile accident case I blogged about November 18 and November 12. The client does not report much improvement since the last session though they claim to have good days and bad days. This may not be much different that what they were experiencing before they came to see me.

The client had been in compliance about the use of the shoulder harness especially at work, until their chiropractor told them that the shoulder could "freeze up" if the arm was immobilized. My fear is that the client is inclined to use the injured arm too much and that use of the shoulder harness (as prescribed by their doctor) would reduce their chance of reinjuring fragile healing tissue.

Luckily, I was able to convince the client to see a doctor to track progress. I wrote a letter which included my findings:

Front:
- pain just below the midsection of the left clavicle and medial toward the sternum.
- left-sided pain at the costal margin of the sternum in conjunction with 4th rib

Back:
- left-sided pain at the spine in conjunction with the 4th rib. Pain radiates out from this location and wraps around the body along the 4th rib.
- pain just medial to the scapula below the scapular spine suggesting involvement with the rhomboid muscles
- left-sided pain at the top of the shoulder: levator scapula and trapezius muscles

I will not see the client again until they have been to their doctor.
