Project Sunshine is a national non-profit group that provides free services and programs for children facing life-threatening illnesses and their families. The Iowa City Press-Citizen profiles the local program, which includes massage therapy for parents, at the Children's Hospital of Iowa.
In one end of the room, two therapists gave massages to a short line of people. Scattered on other tables across the room were scented lotions, magazines and potpourri. Fresh fruit and cool water sat on another table, waiting to be consumed.
For the parents of children receiving treatment at the Children's Hospital of Iowa, the Origins Oasis by Project Sunshine was a chance to relax and get away for a few minutes from the pressures of having a child in the hospital.
