6. How much pain should you tolerate before you cry uncle? Akins says massage is all about release, so if you're feeling any pain, you should speak up right away.
Randall says she keeps an eye out for body language, such as clenched fists or tensed muscles.
"If you feel pain for more than three days after a massage, your muscles have been traumatized," she said. "A good massage therapist knows the limits."
