Employee Wellness Programs Increasing
BenefitNews reports that employers are increasingly implementing wellness programs for their employees, often making massage therapy a key asset.
Benefit plan design invariably will play a role in helping lower costs and improve outcomes. For instance, including nontraditional care such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractic care, yoga, Tai Chi and Chi Gong could pay wellness dividends alongside conventional avenues involving diet and exercise.
"There's a definite value to offering alternative medicine," according to O'Connor, noting Guardian's recent expansion of health plan member access to a national network featuring up to 30% discounts on services from more than 36,000 such providers.
