Massage Therapy and the Veterans Administration
AM New York profiles a young Marine injured in Iraq. Massage therapy is part of his rehabilitation from a brain injury, but the Veterans Administration does not cover the cost.
The department of Veteran's Affairs said the Ryan qualified for two 12-hour home health care aides a day as well as five sessions a week each of physical, speech and occupational therapies.
But out of those 15 sessions a week, Eddie Ryan sometimes gets only six to eleven. The VA says it's having problems locating the professionals that can get to the Ryan's home.
Also, the VA doesn't cover massage therapy, which Eddie says stimulates his limbs and eases his spasms.
