There's a procrastinator in every bunch. Usually, around late June I start getting phone calls about people whose Christmas gift certificates are coming due. And on the last day of the month, there is at least one person who has waited to the last minute to redeem it.
If a client has made an effort to contact me before the gift certificate expires, I will honor it into the next month. As I tell them this, I strongly encourage that individual to schedule an appointment so I can resolve the outstanding gift certificate in my records. Such was the case this year.
My potential client has a work schedule that changes weekly and they cannot commit to anything until they know their work schedule. I understand this and have allowed them flexibility to call me back when the new schedule is posted. Unfortunately, this person has trouble remembering to call me back. And I forgot to mention that the deadline extension is limited to the end of July.
So, I feel as though I run the risk of being pushy to call them back a second time to schedule the appointment. However, they sound enthusiastic about getting a massage and I would hate for them to miss an opportunity for a massage that they would enjoy. So, I will take a deep breath, stiffen my back and put myself out on a limb to ensure that I've offered the best customer service possible toward a client I've never met and likely will never see again. But, if all goes well, . . . you never know.
