License Renewals

I didn't plan it this way, but my practitioner license renewal, establishment license renewal, and AMTA membership all come due within a month of each other. My NCBTMB does not come due until September of 2008.

Luckily, with the changes in our state laws that reflect acceptance of current NCBTMB certification as adequate proof of continuing education, the renewal process is easier. However, the grace period that they allow us for renewal has been replaced by a $25.00 late fee, so it behooves me to get my paperwork in before the deadline.

Another bonus is the change in the NCBTMBs allowable continuing education. So the community college classes that I've been taking will qualify as academic course work toward certification. I stopped by the college this past Thursday to have them send official transcripts to both the state board and AMTA just to cover my bases.

Besides NCBTMB being a credential of excellence in the field, I believe the adoption of national certification toward license portability and ease of license renewal is one of the most practical benefits of being nationally certified. And, besides having to pay a lot of fees all at once, I guess the advantage to having all my licenses and membership due at the same time means I only have to gather the necessary paperwork once rather than double handling it.
