An Early Valentine's Present

In an attempt to offset the stress of school and to drain some excess energy, I've taken up running. Okay, I've attempted to take up jogging, but my progress is slow because I don't want to hurt myself. In a show of support, my husband bought me a sport sleeve for my iPod nano. With that he picked up a Nike + iPod Sport Kit to track my progress (distance, calories burned, etc.), and shoe pouch for the sensor. I can program play lists of motivating music, get spoken feedback about my workout, even compare my workouts to people on the other side of the world.

So, if anyone wants to challenge me, I don't have any goals set, except fitness. However, at the rate I'm going I should be able to run a 5K by April. It may be the world's slowest 5K, but I'm not interested in my time, I'm interested in finishing and doing it without feeling like I need to die at the end of the "race."

Of course, I thank my husband for being thoughtful, supportive, and what better gift is there for Valentines Day than looking out for my heart?
