No Sweetheart To Share Valentine's Day With?
If you find yourself going solo this Valentine's Day, don't despair (and don't hate the day). Treat yourself to whatever YOU want. From something as simple as a chocolate bar, to a pedicure, a quiet evening at home with friends, or a "Day Of Beauty" complete with make-over and massage, the day can saved.
"The holiday's designed to make you feel (bad)," says Judy McGuire, author of "How Not to Date." If you're in a relationship, it's never anything that it's supposed to be. And if you're single, you feel like a big loser because you don't have anybody. I think people should lower Valentine's Day expectations to pretty much nil. That way, anything that happens is good."
Bits of wisdom from Melisha Noronha to help keep Valentine's Day in perspective: "Valentine’s Day is celebrated to express love to anyone we are close to." Also, if you are alone and happy with that, she says, "Do not let a couple-driven culture define your choice to be alone as something wrong."
