Super Foods And Breakfast Bars
In an attempt to find a mobile, nutritious and delicious breakfast bar, I came across a cooking website from Portland, OR called Je Mange la Ville. They not only have a breakfast bar that appears to be well-rated, but it's packed with what they discovered are superfoods.
With that said, how many superfoods from the following list do you eat on a regular basis?
* Beans
* Blueberries
* Broccoli
* Oats
* Oranges
* Pumpkin
* Salmon
* Soy
* Spinach
* Tea (green or black)
* Tomatoes
* Turkey
* Walnuts
* Yogurt
I'm appalled to admit that I only eat 4 regularly, 5 on and off again, and 5 almost never, though I like everything on the list. For the omega-3 benefit found in Salmon, I eat milled flax seed (after all, there is so much debate about the safety and availability of deep sea salmon and controversy over whether pond-raised salmon has the health benefits of deep-sea salmon). And when I eat yogurt, I try to eat only Stonyfield Farms yogurt because it tastes the freshest--but making your own yogurt is a lead-pipe cinch. I'm not a huge fan of walnuts because I think pecans are so much more flavorful.
If you try the recipe from Je Mange la Ville, let me know what you think. I plan to make these next weekend. Also, I find it interesting that one of the comments regarding the use of orange peel in the recipe cites it's health benefits: I read awhile back that a group of researchers were testing the effects of orange peel on rats’ health and by the end of the study everybody in the lab was walking around chewing dried orange peel because the results were so good.
