Minnesota's Alternative Medicine Controversy

In Minnesota, a law has just passed that allows recognition of naturopathic doctors. What appears to be a victory after 99 years of proponents trying to get the law passed, is coming under assault. Interestingly, it is creating a bitter fight among the alternative health community!

"What they're trying to do is become the gatekeeper for natural health, so nobody else can practice," said Greg Schmidt, who runs the Minnesota Natural Health Legal Reform Project, which led a pitched battle to sink the law. Despite assurances to the contrary, the fissure remains.

Maybe Minnesota can look to other states such as Oregon and Arizona to see how the practice lines are drawn among alternative health care practitioners.
