Massage Therapy Is Good For You

Every once in a while an article comes along that outlines the variety of benefits that massage has to offer. Dr. Mary Jo Wakeman, MD reminds us about how research benefits newborns and, in places where employers make massage available to their workforce, it increases productivity.

She reports that massage is good for improving anxiety, pain, sports and overuse injuries and can be used as an adjunct to cancer treatment.

Most surprising to me were studies which show that cancer and HIV/AIDS patients receiving massages show an increase in the number of white blood cells in their blood. It has also been shown to raise the spirits and sense of well-being in cancer patients.

In short, massage therapy is good for you.
