20 Worst Foods

I love food. One of the laments that I have about going out to eat is that the food is rarely as good as what we can make at home if we put our minds to it. So, when my husband found this article about the worst foods in America that you can eat, it put me off eating out even more.

One important thing to note is that just because an restaurant claims that something on their menu is a healthy alternative, doesn't mean that it is. Sure, a Veggie Supreme sandwich sounds healthy, but this foot-long comes with three different kinds of cheese, and it’s drenched in oil. That's 1,106 calories of "good for you," more than half the daily allowance for a typical female.

Desert, it's easy to go overboard when the darn thing is just so tasty. But when dessert is the equivalent of four Quarter Pounders, you get the impression that the restaurant is standing on the gang plank behind you.

Then there is the worst food of 2009: Baskin Robbins Large Chocolate Oreo Shake with a whopping 2600 calories, the author calls it a "caloric catastrophe." It’s soiled with more than a day’s worth of calories and three days worth of saturated fat, and, worst of all, usually takes less than 10 minutes to sip through a straw.

You have been warned, back away from the shake.
