First Aid Myths

Health Watch Center has a test for how well people know their first aid in common injury situations. Myths abound about proper treatment of anything from burns to snakebite to ankle sprains.

I always enjoy reading the comment fields following articles. I didn't realize that this one would be seen as controversial until I read the comment field. People criticized the author, stating that listing misinformation would only reinforce that misinformation in people's minds. So, if you want to skip the article, I've listed the proper treatments for the eight scenarios below.

Treating burns
Ankle sprains
Snake bites
Nose bleeds
Poisoning (also for your pets and good info from the Humane Society)
Sudden high fever

Good luck out there. And stay safe.
