Drinking Coffee May Lower Risk For Diabetes

Coffee and tea drinkers may have a lower risk for diabetes. Three to four cups of those beverages a day can lower risk by 25% according to a large analysis in The Archives of Internal Medicine.

While the study is not conclusive, it is the first study to examine the relationship. The research suggests a causal effect. And whether the beverage is caffeinated or not doesn't seem to make a difference.

Some studies have indicated that chemical components of tea and coffee may have beneficial effects on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, but the evidence is mixed.

I like coffee, but I stopped drinking it because I didn't like the way it makes me feel. Whether caffeinated or not, I get the jitters. However, I can suggest a few good coffees and one tea:
Gevalia
Starbucks
One of my sisters swears by Dunkin Donuts

Adagio teas
and nothing makes a better tasting iced tea than Luzianne
