Marketing: Get Creative

When it comes to marketing your business, it pays to get creative. And injecting a good bit of altruism in the deal doesn't hurt either. Especially when the gift is given to naturally altruistic people, it somehow balances the world out a little.

For example, Delaware massage therapist, Kari Ainsworth give seated massages to the local fire department every other month.

"The support from the Lewes Fire Department has been great and I am happy to help a group that does so much for the safety of our local community.”

Do you have a free clinic in your community? Volunteer there to give the staff and doctors complementary massage therapy. The local police department is full of worthy individuals who could stand a break from their high stress jobs. Public works (especially during crisis), school teachers, penetentary guards, EMTs, and military personnel all deserve the benefits of caring touch.

In my town, I had half of the parole department coming to see me. All it took was one individual to spread the word. And while I did not volunteer my services there, making people aware of your work can do wonders for growing your business. Consider that all of these people have friends and relatives that they talk to. I've had whole families coming to me for massage therapy as a result of this networking and word of mouth referral system.

So get creative. Think about the work that your family members do and see if you can find an in to a service industry through them. You never know what dividends you'll earn. Who knows, you could get written up in your local paper.
