Horsing Around

This Santa Cruz area massage therapist started out her career working on jockeys and now has horses for clients.

While having honed her massage technique on jockeys in Florida, three of her current massage clients are horses.

When it comes to massage, Notter said horses and people are basically the same. Both appreciate the massage and gain improved mobility. The main differences, she said, are the horse is standing, unlike a person, and oil isn’t used for horses since they have a dense layer of hair.

Also, she noted, people, unlike horses, may chat during a session.
